We are going on Anthem of the Seas (RCL) from Port Liberty NJ for 12/24-31 this year.

If you go to NJ/Port Liberty the ships are better.

We just did this and I’d recommend fly to Florida. Yes, there is a lot to do. But it’s SO crowded on these ships on the days at sea, especially if you’re on a school break. We hated our sea days and the pool deck was open but so crowded we could never use it. I can’t imagine if it’s during cold weather.

Tell me more about the rough water. Will it make kids seasick?

Do they get motion sickness? Have they been on any boat before?

We did one in the winter several years ago. Very old crowd - lots of buses from retirement homes in nearby states. Ours had a big stomach virus outbreak that negatively impacted our experience.

I’ve done Baltimore to Bermuda a few times before Covid. Loved it but very small ships and not very many kids so I would not take my kid. Fly down to Florida and do a bigger ship. The day back and forth past fl will be freezing to sit outside. Pp is correct. Weather does not warm up till you hit south. I had no issue with sea sickness but there just isn’t a lot of entertainment or lots of kids.

Very rough seas for the first two days until you get fat enough south. Also too cold to go on deck. When we went in December 2010, it was rough seas and they closed the outdoor decks for the first two days.

I wouldn't do it. The boats that come to Baltimore are older, smaller and don't have a lot of the bells and whistles you see on the commercials. Make sure you know what you're getting.

They’re great for what they are—a cheap, easy, warm kid friendly vacation.

They aren’t fancy/modern ships because they have to fit under the bridge/in the Baltimore harbor, but my family has always enjoyed them. We will be on the carnival one the first week of spring break and are looking forward to it!

Does anyone have experience with 7-8 days Carribean / Bahamas cruise that leaves from Baltimore port around Christmas time? For family with early ES kid.
