Subject: Passive Aggressive Wedding Invites
I have a 3 PM Friday event later this year that I need to attend (as do my school aged children - there is no way to make it without them taking off at lunch time)
I have a co-worker who took off to attend a local Thursday wedding recently.
The invite is not passive aggressive- the bride and groom have decided what they wanted for a wedding and guests have a choice to attend or not.
The the Friday event that I have, timing was determined by the photographer - who said what time the sunlight for photographs was best (I am not kidding)
Just RSVP no - that you would love to be there but the logistics will not work wish them happiness and call it a day.

Lol. I was invited to a wedding in the middle of no where. A hampton inn hotel block was 300. There are welcome drinks at 6pm on Friday (must take vacation to make it by then), nothing until 4pm the next day, and no brunch on Sunday.

Saturday receptions are often much more expensive than Sunday, OP. If you can’t go, then don’t.

A lot of young couples are clueless and don't consider these things. I would forgive them. Either it works for you and you go, or you don't go. But give up on hoping that couples would even begin to understand this.

Brides and grooms are focused on themselves. They don’t have families yet and no concept or care of what is convenient for others. If this is not close family, skip it.

If I go it is a 500 mile round trip, kid misses school, I use vacation day, I pay dog care and my kid sits in a hotel room by herself.
Last year I had a person do engagement party finals week on Long Island then wedding in Pennsylvania on the Sunday of a three day weekend.
Saturday evening weddings are same price as Sunday night weddings. Why not do a 11:30 am Saturday church with a 2-6 pm reception?
Late night Sunday weddings suck.
Ghost them. Don't accept or decline.

I don’t think that’s passive aggressive so much as a poorly planned wedding, OP. If it doesn’t work for you, don’t attend. The ones with a long gap between ceremony and reception are tough for guests.
