Last year the first grade teacher told us during the parent teacher conference to encourage Lexia at home but that we shouldn't help with answers.

If using Lexia is simply learning, how does "the data" become "inaccurate" if the child is using it at home? This makes no sense. I agree with the OP that if a child is interested, why not do it at home (esp. since they often don't have that much time to use it at school and it is one area where differentiation is baked in)?

And it's not an assessment.

1st grade last school year - they were allowed to do it at home for extra work if they wanted. Haven’t heard anything one way or the other this school year so far.

Yes, our DCs were told not to do Lexia at home.

We have reports as teachers that show what students are struggling with each week and we are supposed to teach those lessons in small groups. I guess if a parent assists the kid at home, we don’t see accurate answers?

Last year we were encouraged to have our children do it at home - they were both behind in reading.

My kid has the need and interest, he wants to do more. He only had little time at school to do it. When he comes home he wants to continue doing it. From parent’s perspective, it’s a well-developed and free language learning resource.

I am also just curious, why the expectations are different among FCPS.

Why would you want your child to do it at home?

Hi! My kid was told by the teacher that Lexia is for school and students should not do it at home. However, I have friends’ kids in different schools, their teacher never told the students not to do it at home. They are also in FCPS. What’s your experience? Thanks!
