My DD was burnt out Sr year and skipped afternoon, not required for graduation classes. Had a low GPA. 2nd semester took all classes in the morning and came home from lunch and had a 4.0.

Not ideal but I wish I had known part time was an option all of senior year.

Because so many kids are so knowledgeable that they don't need any more time in school... sure.

If they are doing outside classes or an internship they are in school. Many years ago I did an internship my senior years for a half day and loved it. We are encouraging our kids to do the same. Between middle school credits and summer school they will have a lot of the main requirements done by softmore year.

The 2 Juniors I actually know personally are both part time for "mental health" reasons. I dont know what justification parents used.

If you are OP, thanks for that clarification. It is not common, except as mentioned above in Sr year when the student has all the requirements met and does not want to be in HS full day (would rather work, do an internship, etc.)

Other than that, you will have to disclose your reason.

They have all the requirements except math and English. Some kids take classes at MC, others work or have internships.

We know a couple high-level athletes and one 12th grader who is doing it for jobs but what are other reasons?
