We didn't get an AP gov textbook. Can you leave the instrument at school? Our kid got a small locker in the band room. We just have two sets of instruments for school. We clip the lunch box to the backpack. I hate the MCPS chromebooks. They aren't bad but they are much heavier than others.
My kid is at Wootton. They have a AP Gov textbook.
Maybe because it's a W school. We didn't get one or maybe its coming.

Our school offers them to some kids and the rest have to apply to ask for them.

Me again. My son was at Walter Johnson. He had textbooks he insisted on bringing to school (math, not history), which made his large backpack really heavy, but it could all fit.
However no teacher ever demanded a certain organizational system. None of them ever collected notebooks, so why on earth would they insist on kids having one? There were worksheets to be handed in in AP Calc BC, but most assignments were done online. He took notes on loose paper and kept it all in one binder.
Our math teacher has a set of math books at school and suggested we buy one for at home or we can use the online version. It was an older book so not crazy expensive used.

I had no lockers at my high school in the late 90s. We all just had the giant LL Bean backpacks stuffed with textbooks.

There are lockers, but the kids don't use them. The classes are all over the building, and the lockers are always far away. No time to get there and get to class on time

HS’ers figure it out. They use 1-5 subject spiral notebooks, or 1 binder w/ tabs and several folders, or some other system. They find a teacher’s room to leave things in. Band rooms have cubbies for instruments. They attach lunch boxes to backpacks. Share lockers. Etc etc. They figure it out.

That is a bit absurd. Ours asked for a mix of composition and spiral and folders. Do they need a graphing calculator at school? Our school has a classroom set so kids need one at home but not school.
