The DCUM consensus from earlier threads seems to be that the primary group of kids who don't regret the experience are extremely high-performing ones who have already done geometry at a place like AoPS, and want to get formal credit for it.

Geometry is really an important basis for further math, and a kid should not try to take it online unless they are highly gifted. It would stink spending so much of your summer doing this. Kids need a summer break. There is no need to rush ahead.

Do they have summer in person? It says it's mostly Asynchronous Class Work.
In person classes are primarily for credit recovery.

From the descriptions I have read, there are quizzes and tests every day. Not a quiz and a test but plural. There is in person instruction where cameras have to be turned on so that the Teacher can confirm the kid is there. There is 3-4 hours of homework. And you want to do that on vacation?

No. No vacations during a summer course as it’s a shortened course already. Either cancel the trip or don’t sign up.

Bump ... NP looking for any additional info. My DC is going through course selection for next year, and came home asking to take geometry over the summer.

And the 90 minute Zoom isn't really a lecture that is teaching. The independent work included watching videos that taught the concepts. It was made explicit that it was to ask questions on the independent work. It's a great option for those that can handle it. Bad idea for those who can't handle an independent study course.

It is 90 minutes a day of zoom lecture and 6-8 hours a day of independent work. There is no in person option except for credit recovery. It's a lot. You cannot realistically do a family vacation and expect your kid to get it all done--it's a full time job.

My child may opt to do geometric during the summer instead of during the school year.
What was the schedule this year? How many weeks are the classes and what is the timing committee per day (live instruction vs homework)? Is the class online or are there in person options?
