How is what OP said racist? I think OP is talking about lowering of academic standards which only hurts low income and minority kids who do not have the resources at home to be challenged academically. Their parents cannot afford Kumon and Russian Math.

I worry that these families aren’t coming back or that private school is becoming the normal for those that can afford it. I don’t want to become Alexandria. Anyone not worried about this has their head in the sand or doesn’t realize we need kids of all backgrounds (including the privileged) to go to public school.

I see this playing out in my neighborhood. About 10 families with school age kids on my block and 5 are in private schools. Only one family was private school prepandemic. I hope this reverses but the families staying private are concerned that APS is lowering standards and not teaching kids to write. Two came back for 8th grade and were not happy so back to private for high school.

That's how liberal school reform works. The rich push it and then pay whatever it takes to make sure their kids aren't effected by it. You can go all the way back to integration and see liberals moving to districts not effected right up through the current flight to privates

What terrible indignities are your children being subjected to in the schools? My kid is almost finished and the only thing I’ve seen is the schools indicating that everyone should be treated with respect and not ostracized. Kind of sounds like that golden rule by some Jesus guy.
