This is a terrible model for kids. It’s not good for them to move constantly. And yes I realize military kids have to do it but this sounds like doing all that moving without any of the other support system framework the military families have to work with.

Lycee Francais is exactly this. If you leave one Lycee in good standing you're automatically enrolled in a new location should you wish to attend.

op - i feel like this is totally doable. it feels like the kind of thing I'll say 'i wish this existed' and then my kids will age out of school and someone will invent it.

could be same curriculum, not insane number of locations (NY/ Miami/ London/ Shanghai/ Singapore/ Rio). I bet they would find some customers.

Except if you are enrolled at one international school you cannot just attend a completely different one without going through another application process. Lots of schools offer IB but they all maintain their own admissions standards and are independent of one another. OP is looking for something more like Avenues or Challenger where the individual schools are just branches operated by one company.


There's absolutely international schools that are the same name/brand but in different cities... You are right that you do have to enroll fresh if you move though but it's probably an easy transfer (never done it personally).

It's not really practical. Schools in different locations aren't going to stay in sync, and every class has its own vibe. People who travel a lot do online schools like Global Online Academy, or send kid to a boarding school or to live with a relative so they have stability.

I know of a consortial graduate degree -- the NEO MFA program brings together faculty and resources from Youngstown State University, Cleveland State University, the University of Akron and Kent State University.

But undergrad? I'm not aware of it.

The only thing that comes to mind is Challenger School, which has 27 branches in the US, but I don't think if you are enrolled at one you can just move and attend another without doing some kind of formal re-enrollment. It would be very disruptive for the teachers and students if there were no consistency in your day-to-day classmates. And history and social studies curricula are very local, so if your child attends a school in Miami and is doing a unit on local Florida history, it would be hard to move in the middle of the year to attend a school in DC where they are doing a unit on DC-area history.

If you want an experience like that, you're better off homeschooling and supplementing with outside classes a-la-carte style.
