I agree with your hunch that it is a big jump. Spanish 4 was a big jump from 3. How game would your child be for some tutoring the summer before?

This is the way in most of the country, but you should talk to your Spanish Department chair. There will be many kids who are (a) native speakers and/or (b) who have taken Spanish 4 and 5 prior to AP
