Annoyed how late they started - over an hour - two people checking in. Why aren't they better prepared?
For the actual test, I got a "fine".

Nope. He has never said that - not on the 1000 test (which he took without prep) nor on any of the times practice tests (he took three, best score was an 1160).


DP. It can be so demoralizing for the kids. Good for him for keeping going. Same as mine.

My two public school kids took it at a nearby private school which had great a/c and divided them in groups into classrooms, so no huge gym experience.

They had very little to say about the content other than it was manageable. Nothing they had to guess on in the Math section, which is good.

Also looking to break the 1400 barrier

I guess we'll find out on Sept. 8

Isn't the SAT based on a curve. So even if the consensus is that it was easier or harder, it does not really matter for scoring purposes?

My kid also took it this time to boost her reading & writing score. Overall, she thought it was better compared to the test that she took in March. Her biggest challenge was managing her time. Still, she thought that she performed better than last time - though I guess we'll see the reality of the situation in a few weeks. Best of luck to all your kids!

Why is it that these test locations are not set up to support optimal testing?

My DS was at a MoCo high school - the air was not on and they had the blinds up so that the sun was beating down on them.

Mine said he could answer all but one written math problem that was not multiple choice, unlike in the last one when he guessed on like 10 of them. Got a 1330 last time and trying to break 1400 with this one.

Then again, he studied a lot this summer, unlike last time when he studied for about 2 days/a few hours total.

My strong in math kid (770 last time) thought it was very tricky. He took it this time to try to up his English (620) which he said was “ok”.

DD said this one was much easier than the last one. Had no prep before the first one and used Khan this time.

This was DS' 3rd and last time taking it. He thought it was "less hard" than the previous 2 times (May and June) and finished it completely for the first time. The passage on growing potatoes almost put him to sleep though. He also mentioned how happy he was that there was no "annoying" experimental section at the end that didn't count like the other 2 times. He used Khan Academy to prep (they connect with the College Board to see what you got wrong on the previous test and drill down on that). Previous 2 scores were both 1270, but he was extremely anxious then and not this time. We'll see.

This is the 3rd time my DC has taken the SAT. Said the math was especially hard. What are the reactions from your kid?
