High school boys are funny. I have seen them tell an annoying parent --usually coaching other kids too-not just their son---to shut the h*ll up.

On the field, my son often will talk some with the opposing team’s players, even though a lot of players are, at least at first, somewhat hesitant to do so. He says usually the easiest way to break the ice is to make a crack about one of his own team’s parents and get them laughing…and then they’ll start talking about their team’s idiot parents.

A problem across youth sports. Parents that scream/coach are a bunch A&&!!e. You know who you are. stop it. ur kid sucks.

I don't know. Some harpy mom was screaming at her son the entire ECNL game, pointing out his mistakes and screaming at him. Insane. This is why I usually sit far away or in my car (if there is a view of the field). Parents annoy the fKK out of me.

I have high school sons and they would be so embarrassed and pissed if we acted like some of the parents on the sideline, especially if it came from their mom (me).
I always feel sorry for the kids. I’m not talking about normal cheering, btw.

Not always true but generally the case. Those teams are made up of kids who had to compete for those spots. So those families are looking out for #1 to the detriment of teammates. It's a wonder that coaches of high level teams get the kids to actually play together as a group.

Our team is quiet and most of the teams we go up against are quiet as well. There are a few individuals on teams that are loud sometimes, but overall I found other leagues to be worse when it came to parent behavior.

For the teams my daughter has played on, it seems to be team cultural. Some teams are absolutely nuts. Then there are quiet team sidelines. Seems that certain personalities gravitate to teams that have the same personality.

My DD recently joined a local ECNL team. We have played a couple of scrimmages to date, one thing that has caught me off guard is the amount of complaining and yelling about the referee’s. I come from EDP, ECNL-R, CCL, I was expecting the sidelines to be more respectful ( Thinking parents should know better at this level)….question to all ECNL club members….does your parents on the sideline make you proud to be associated with the team or embarrassed…..I am currently TBD
