What exactly does an EF coach do? This is what I don’t understand

What does an EF coach do to assist in learning global EF skills not related to school work?

If an EF coach is focused on school work and they see the child 1x per week, how do they know what assignments are due or should be studied for? Does this presume that the student wrote down their assignments/test dates while in school?

My ADHD/ASD son had issues such that an executive functioning coach was never going to be possible or affordable. He needed in-person help every morning and evening, outside of business hours! So my husband and I - and really, mostly me - were his coaches for the K-12 years. This year he's a freshman in college, and we'll see how much he's learned

I look at our EF coach as saving money on therapy for my husband and myself that would be absolutely necessary if we had to manage DS’s homework (7th grader this year). Like PP, EF coach says exactly what I have said many times before.

Whether you can do it yourself depends on your relationship with your child. My child's EF coach hasn't said anything I don't know or haven't said a million times before -- my child just isn't able to hear it from me.

There are more reasonably priced coaches you can arrange online from less expensive areas of the country

Yeah. We are in the same spot. What pricing are you seeing? We hired someone for 125 per 45 minute session a week last semester. It worked but moving forward may be too expensive.

DD is in middle school and not doing well. She has ADHD and Autism level 1. Between her psychiatrist and therapist, both out of network, I can't afford to add someone else into the mix.

Can I do the coach job myself? Where do I start?
