At the aftercare at my school, there are not a lot of older kids but the ones that were there hung together. The program had them help the little kids a lot, which everyone loved.

Experience at different schools with two different providers has been the same… older kids really like it if they have a lot of different activities offered and if they have a friend.

Bar-T is still great for 4-5th graders. It's well attended at our school.

This. My fifth grader loved KAH last year - because the girls in her friend group all did aftercare together. The parents checked in with each other to make sure that would be the case beforehand. On days when most of them weren't there, for some reason, DD usually wanted to come home early or forego it entirely.

Not specifically Bar-T but most of these programs in general unless they have a friend in the program, most older elementary kids aren't the happiest in aftercare, because a lot of times it's mostly younger kids.

Why don’t you take a peek? Every school has a different population with different needs.

New to MCPS and looking for aftercare. what are others' experiences with BAR-T? Would it be a good place for 4th and 5th graders, or is it mostly for lower ES?
