I am support staff and never had to do this. Or maybe when I badge in it's recorded?

I have to sign in every morning, but that's all.

Might be contract, but I haven't had to do it at the last three schools I've been at. It's not a big deal if I did have to, just saying, not every principal will implement it.

Mandatory at our ES, but no one takes it to seriously. Eg, I sign in my para everyday, because she never remembers to do it. Same for many others.

It’s an organizational necessity to know if you are in the building if someone is looking for you and can’t find you. Same with signing out/in at lunch. At one school I was at, someone got in a car accident at lunch and didn’t return. When the teacher wasn’t in their next class, the main office figured out they were in the hospital.

Off and on we have had this expectation, but generally people just make all 10 checkmates for the week at one time. I’m not really sure what the point is.

I don’t think it’s unreasonable per se. I do question the rationale. There’s a daily email listing who is out each day so this seems redundant.

I've had to do that throughout my entire career in public education, although for the last 10 we've used "swipe" badges to get into/out of the building.

No-our AP emails the daily attendance every morning so we know who is out that day. I guess it doesnt sound unreasonable, but there are better ways.

Yes, we have a list of all staff members posted and a box to check when you arrive and depart. It’s really useful to know who is there and who isn’t when you’re looking for someone. It doesn’t have a time of arrival or departure on it.

How is that unreasonable?

I've been in the county for over 30 years and have worked for several administrators who required this-- and you were to sign out/back in if you left during the day. Most required it more to know who was in the building in the event of an emergency more so than a check on what time you actually arrived/left. Staff in my last school would mark it off when they checked their mailboxes and most only sign out if they left during the school day.

Elementary school principal announced this week that everyone is expected to sign in upon arrival and out when they leave every day. I’ve been in the county at various schools for over 25 years and this has never been an expectation.
