We (together) made a sign for his door listing his morning To Do list. Brush teeth, get dressed, pack backpack, eat breakfast, make bed. It really helped. I French would remind him “check your list” until is all became habit.

How long does it take kids to really wake up in the morning? Do you expect them to get out of bed as soon as they are awake?

Rising 1st and 2nd — they get themselves dressed, brush teeth and hair (I supervise teeth and help style hair if needed), fill their water bottle for the day, clear breakfast plates, and feed the dogs.

Oh my goodness yes. They re-wear until they get food on them or smell a bit stale: whichever comes first.

Mine still has accidents and wears an overnite for bed. Thankfully we’ve not had issues with leaks in a long time. It’s made getting ready in the morning much easier.

Mine do. Probably for a few days/week. They wash at night so clean into PJs and dont sweat. So do i really.

Rising 2nd grader here. Get dressed, practice piano, pack back/water bottle. Eat breakfast and bus her plate and brush teeth. I make breakfast and lunch. Im not fighting with the bed making. I dont make my own either.

1st grader:

Wakes up, gets dressed and puts pajamas in hamper

Clear breakfast dishes. If I’m lucky he will make me a nespresso or feed/walk the dog.

Brushes teeth (but I still go over quickly and sometimes even floss)

Pack backpack with his lunch, water bottle, etc that I have prepared for him (again, I check).

I haven’t had him try to make the bed. Maybe I should.

My 2nd and 4th graders make their beds, brush teeth, wash face, get dressed for school, put their pajamas for wash in the laundry basket, set the table for their breakfast and clear their dishes after they eat. There isn’t time for much else before they have to leave the house.
