3-4 tanks for $80 is expensive.

We don’t do back to school shopping unless something is needed (one kid needed a new backpack because the zipper on his broke). When it gets cooler they’ll need new clothes because they inevitably will have outgrown what fit in the spring.

Gave DS a $1500 lululemon gift card.

Zero. Another boy mom. I get new stuff when it's worn out or outgrown. Didn't buy a thing. Had some new clothes put away I had gotten on clearance (shirts, hoodie) but everything else is fine. I did buy some stuff needed for school activities. I'll probably buy some pants/jeans when I see them on sale. Mine doesn't want to shop, doesn't care and happy with what ever I buy.

I have boys. I really wanted to take them back to school shopping, but they both said they don’t need anything new. Sigh.

My kid is in a private with a uniform but I’m not buying new shorts/pants or sneakers. I’ll buy them as needed.
She was in mcps up until Covid and never had a back to school outfit. I didn’t know it was a thing.

My only kid not in college is in private and wears a uniform. We don't do back to school shopping for him. We buy new shorts when he outgrows them whenever that is.

My college kids (girls) buy clothes all the damn time so they don't really do back to school shopping. They spend a small fortune.

My method: We buy kids stuff in January, April, July, October.

In July I let them pick some new summer clothes. “The” shoes have to be saved for first day.

Our school starts in early August. They don’t really need new clothes with it being so hot. A first day outfit or shirt is good though.

In October they get the traditional back to school / fall shopping.

We don't do back to school shopping. We buy things throughout the year as he outgrows things. The most expensive thing is shoes and we let him spend up to $100 and he's not getting super popular ones. He's in adult sizes so it's hard to find any for less than $50.

^for example, she got the sneakers she wanted that were over $100 and one Lululemon shirt. She’s never asked for expensive sneakers before in her life and wanted a particular Lulu top for over a year. She’s starting a new school so we bought them. The rest was much less.

Are you talking about one outfit or for all clothes? We spent quite a bit but it was because DD really needed new sneakers and shorts. I got her a couple of more expensive name brand things she wanted and a bunch of less expensive basics.

I'm the one who is spending. She never thinks of buying new stuff unless she really has nothing to wear, which is what happened 6 months ago after a growth spurt.

What do you allow your teen to spend?
