How is this permitted year after year? Why is there zero accountability? It still wouldn't be an excuse, but some suburban HS have 2-4k students; some scheduling mistakes are to be expected. How is Walls permitted to screw up basic administrative functions year after year?
Why does this make you cringe? There is one person who has had two weeks to sort through various transcripts from twenty different schools and place kids. Couple that with I’m sure receiving at least a hundred emails from nervous parents. The counselors don’t work in July so this has only been happening for two weeks.

I would recommend that your student reach out to their counselor now to say that the current schedule did not have the right language / math class. They have office hours the 1st few days to get make adjustments.
Sorry, what now? So they send them schedules before school and then give them totally new ones on day 1? How does that make any sense? Why do so many parents in DC accept this type of incompetence as the norm.

Your high school student is the one that needs to make the appointment. You need to get comfortable that they are expected self advocate.

It has the wrong language and math class for my child.
I don't want to inundate them with emails since I am sure this is a crazy time.
Do 9th graders just get updated schedules on the first day? Or will something else come out this week?
Any veteran parents have any wisdom?
