I had no makeup rules, let dd wear it when she wanted. Honestly ? Like a lot of us she made some not great choices when she was at the young end of the makeup learning curve. But she quickly got it out of her system and by high school wore only light stuff. In college now, a very outdoorsy person, barely wears any unless going out.

I wore a little makeup starting in 8th, every day. I’m one of those very blonde women who looks exhausted without mascara. Glad my mom didn’t make a thing out of something small that gave me a confidence boost.

MS is a normal time for kids to start experimenting with makeup. My only thing with my DD once she started wearing some was to emphasize the importance of taking off her makeup every night and washing her face. Kids these days are way better at makeup application than I was in the late 80s/early 90s. I’m actually impressed with how natural it appears when my DD wears it.

I allowed but I did make comments on things like concealer/foundation. Young skin is so lovely that I think it’s a shame to cover it. The rest I see as accentuating assets.

Everyone has a different opinion, but for me I would be okay with mascara and lip gloss. Concealer maybe. Eyeliner no.

I would be okay with a natural, designed to look like you're not wearing any makeup type makeup.

I also think it’s okay and I don’t wear any makes myself. My 7th grader wears some and she does a nice job with minimal application.

Mine is in 7th and puts on a little bit. I grew up in Texas so by 7th grade half the girls were spackling it on. I don't think it's a big deal.

A lot of kids just want to do what other kids are doing, to fit in. My daughter just started wearing a little bit of makeup and she is going into 9th. I'm cool with it, for the most part.

I was against makeup but my 7th grader is all in and she does it very well. It’s as though she isn’t wearing any. I’m mostly against how much money she spends on it and would be against it if it looked garish. Otherwise, this isn’t a hill I am going to die on.
