Yep, confirmation bias. It’s like private school and public school parents - both need to believe their choice is better, so they do!

No. I’m 54 and I have no regrets. My H was very mentally ill and I did everything to be a loving and supportive wife.

It really wasn’t until I decided to divorce that he decided he needed serious and deep therapy, and he got it.

Now he is mostly mentally stable and my kids have a good father. I am very happy and content and financially stable (his illness was expensive).

My kids got the gift of two happy parents and an understanding that life it a tough road and there is not 1 definition of success.

At, 54 I don’t know many happy couples, maybe 2 out of my 20 friends.

I know a lot of happy single people.

I do very deeply. Whenever I see other family members growing old with their partners I feel sad. When I think about how my he and I won’t make memories with the kids and our grandkids I get very sad. Our marriage. Was extremely tough, but so is being without him. Sometimes I want to die, so through death we can part.

Many people on here say they regret it if their kids were young. The logistics of two households is not worth it if there is not adultery, abuse, addiction. Try counseling first.
