Vegan of 30 years here. I completely agree. I think it’s totally unfair how much of a priority animal shelters have become. It’s not a mess I think we should have to clean up.

I wish I could help, we currently have a house full of pets though. I have adopted through them twice (dog and a guinea pig). Both experiences were good. Turn around time was 2-3 days if I remember correctly.

Pup Tart and Hilly are pretty darn cute. I’m also intrigued by 8 yr old Shaka.

This isn't a problem you can adapt your way out of.

I think it’s absolutely fine to require a fenced yard. It’s critical for dog safety.

I don’t think it’s a good idea to put social pressure on people to adopt or foster dogs, especially Pit mixes. I see so many people (mostly women) with rescue dogs that they cannot control and that they are in no way suited for. They are always very nice peole and I always feel bad for them. Don’t be that person.

But go get a rescue cat—those all seem fine.

Not true. Quick glance shows there is a husky mix puppy and another dog who is some kind of terrier/chihuahua mix.
