The confusion is not rooted in privilege.

APS sends a paper document for one piece of needed info but uses Parentvue for other needed info. Why discrepancy?

Well now they are sending class assignments via ParentVUE as well. So the PP screaming privilege can now step aside.

All the info is in parentvue

Most government agencies only communicate through the mail. While public school isn't exactly the same as the IRS, it does make sense to me. I just got a jury summons, also in the mail.

Some families also do not have English literate adults. A letter in the mail lets their older kids or a neighbor tell them what it says.

I double APS is paying $.66 - they get bulk mail rates.

Often these are decisions intended to be inclusive for families without device/internet access at home or with low levels of digital literacy.

Letting parents opt into paperless would be a smart move though

This is an "old habits die hard" type of thing. Yes, they should just post everything into ParentVue and send out an email. But there are quite a few families who probably don't use the apps/online info very well, and the mail is a much better option.

It's also a way to flex residency requirements. I bet they follow up on the returned "no longer at this address" items.

Now, why they don't just put it in Parentvue the same day they mail it all, I have no idea.

Which school? I don’t think every school does mailings.

APS tends to do well when it comes to wasting money.

Organizations often get bulk mail discounts fwiw. If your school has low parentvue utilization that might be part of it also

Interesting because we were told (gunston) that everything would be paperless this year. Might be an individual school decision.

Does anyone know why APS mails the TA assignments when the classes will be provided through Parentvue?

Today I saw in my USPS informed delivery that the TA placement is “coming to my mailbox soon.”

Forever stamps are $0.66. For my school that is almost $600 and time to collate. Time and money better spent elsewhere.
