My sweet dog died in this flood. She liked this location the best because of the big windows and larger play space, and the staff have always been so loving. She went one day a week for day care when my husband and I work in the office, and we were boarding her here while on vacation. We regularly drove out of our way to take her here because it was where she was happy - you could even see her smiling in the pictures they took. It never occurred to me she would be unsafe there. She was only 18 months old and we were looking forward to our kids growing up with her. I don't understand how the city could allow any business to operate in an unsafe location, and wonder what the regulations are for emergency evacuation of the pets in their care. None of this will bring our beloved dog and the other beloved dogs back but I hope this can be prevented in the future.

I don’t think the dogs were in kennels. I think they were in a big play area that filled up with water in a matter of minutes like a fish bowl. My heart goes out to all of the owners and their dogs.

I think the city was supposed to be fixing the drainage in this area but it wasn't complete yet (according to councilmember Christina Henderson's Twitter last night). Was the business just supposed to relocate in less than a year. Seems this is more on the city than the business.

I hope people sue the city.

This is terrible. I took my new dog there last month for grooming. I agree with the other poster that said the staff there is wonderful, so nice, and welcoming. The person who groomed my dog did exactly as I asked, and I was so pleased and looked forward to going back. This is so sad.

That's not on the staff. The owner, maybe. But not the workers. But you probably know that.

It’s on anyone who knew about it previously but then continued with business as usual.

It is heartbreaking. We take our dog there, she wasn’t there yesterday thankfully, but we know most if not all of the staff there and they are just wonderful. Beyond good customer service, and just genuine kindness and care for the dogs. I have no doubt in my mind they did everything they could to save the dogs there, risking their own safety. The dog play area was basically a whole wall of windows, and when that wall was breached that space must have been flooded instantly. They must all be so traumatized. I can’t imagine this location will ever reopen.

Oh that’s terrible. Can’t stop Mother Nature, unfortunately.

This story is absolutely heartbreaking I feel terrible for those poor owners and for the staff who tried to save the dogs.
The flash flooding yesterday caused a wall at the front of to break and water rushed in quickly.
