L’Avenue (classic French fare, relaxed atmosphere)
Dobe and Andys (amazing Chinese bbq)
Satay Brothers (drinks and those buns)
Pizza Toni (very good pizza by the slice)

Joe Beef is okay, but mostly overhyped. The four above are truly unique, delicious, and offer something you can’t find in the DMV.

Not a dinner rec, but if you find yourself on Wellington street, Bossa deli is amazing for Italian sandwiches!

We just went and had an excellent meal at Monarche in Old Montreal (fairly close to Basilica). Also enjoyed L’Express and Le Vin Papillon, but Monarche was our favorite.

Has everyone gone to Montreal this summer?? So many people I know have. But they took kids so didn't do nice restaurants.
Looking for recs ...
- for Sunday evening when a lot of places seem to be closed. DH would like middle eastern but half the places I looked at are closed for next week or for Sun and Damas is way too expensive.
- for Sat around 7-8pm near Notre Dame, we get in late and have tickets to the light show at 9 at the basilica so need to grab a little bite beforehand but won't have time to wait for a table, can be wine bar or pub with food
