There should be provided the pool is "open" and not just open for team use. You should be fine. My toddler took lessons there some years ago and there is a fairly shallow section with a ramp etc at one end. Whether the cost is worth it is another question and it can be tedious queuing up to pay a daily admission. If you think you'll use it, buy a semester or annual pass (but then you need to be dedicated to making use of it...)

One thing to add, I am not alumni. The website implies you don’t have to be alumni to join the alumni association. Do you know if that is true?

Yes- I am UMD alumni and I am a member of the Alumni Association, I have purchased a day pass when my kid had summer meets at Eppley and used the outdoor pool. I am sure you can do the same during open swim hours. Go Terps!

One of my kids will be swimming with the Machine swim club this year, with practice on Saturday morning from 10 to 11:30 at UMD.
Looking on the website, it seems as though I could buy an alumni association membership, and then purchase day passes to use the pool with my other kids while she swims.
Does anyone know whether this would actually work?
One of my kids is a toddler. We're happy to swim in water over his head, if an adult can stand, but he'd need an area that's not a lap lane where we'd be in the way of other people.
