Teacher here. Although you are only talking about 3 full days 6/10-12, this is typically when a final unit test or project presentations would occur. You need to let your grade level administrator know (start of 4th Qtr) to request that the absences are excused. Then your student would work with the teachers to finish any tests/projects by the Friday before. Make sure your kid hustles in 3rd Qtr to earn all As, so that if something ends up a B in 4th Qtr, the semester grade is still an A.

Any job that hires high school children should understand that they aren't available for training during the school day until school is over.

I did that my junior year of high school but this was back in the early 2000's. I had training for a job at the beach that I couldn't miss or I'd lose the job. I remember handing in a bunch of work early as well taking my exams a little early. In the grand scheme of things it really wasn't a big deal. Back then the last couple of weeks didn't really matter.

If it were my kid, I'd let them do the same as long as it wasn't inconveniencing their teachers too much.

I’m pretty liberal about this stuff, but junior year is far too important to miss a whole week of. Especially at the end of the year when there’s no chance to make it up. He could miss an important test, assignment, or just have a hard-*ss teacher who marks him down. Camp counselor job can wait.

No. Junior year is important. They could miss a test. My kids had assignments due that week. And it might irritate a teacher who they want a letter of recommendation from.

One or two days, maybe. A whole week? No

Is it a day camp? You only need 1-2 days of training for that.

My kid wanted did it this summer. They had to have all work done prior to leaving and have talked with the teacher to make sure they wouldn't miss any work. It turned out fine and they did indeed earn the (good) grades they thought they had when they left. It turned out fine.

I literally JUST LAST NIGHT watched the episode of Beverly Hills 90210 where Brandon's new job that pays a lot more than the Peach Pit wants him to start immediately, giving him no space to give Nat any notice. He tells the new boss he wouldn't leave him in the lurch so he hopes he understands why Brandon can't leave Nat in the lurch. The new boss says "I hope you're worth waiting for."

Nobody needs a week's worth of training to be a camp counselor. One day is sufficient and that's WITH CPR training.

School is their job idiot. You want the to skip their important job for a min wage job. Good lesson.

I would let my kid do it.

I think it can be done if you plan ahead with teachers and the school.

There typically isn't much work getting done in class that last week of the school year, so I'm sure it won't be a big deal academically....
