Just RSVP, they invited yesterday and you’re responding the next day. If anything they should apologize for inviting on 2 days notice.

Not OP, but if she is like my kids, she got the invitation from friend at school, tossed it in her backpack, told Mom about it at dinner, but forgot to take the invitation out of the backpack and hand it to Mom after dinner. This stuff happens to us all the time, papers from teachers, invitations, etc. I hear about it at dinner, tell them that after dinner, they should give me whatever, and then I clean the table, stock the dishwasher, do after dinner chores and have completely forgotten about that part of the conversation at dinner and remember after they've gone to school in the morning.

Why did she put the invite in her backpack?

If you received an invitation Thursday for a Saturday party, they are expecting RSVPs until Saturday morning and are also not going to be surprised by people who did not RSVP attending. 48 hours notice essentially means no RSVP date.

Not too late. We always get a few last-minute RSVPs for kid parties even when we've provided plenty of notice.

Not too late. If the parents sent the invitation out this week, the parents are expecting responses close to the date.

DD received a birthday invitation YESTERDAY for Saturday, and instead of leaving it on my desk like I'd asked, promptly put in her backpack and took it to school. Is tonight too late to RSVP? I don't remember the girl's name, so I can't even look up her parents in the directory and text?
