So, yeah, I can see how this would flummox a certain crowd, but I'm sure they'll figure it out.

HAHAHAHAHA on the first part. So true!

There have been so many horrible stories about lost mail and not getting RSVPs back. This is likely a half step to avoid that.

You've used a phone before, I'm sure you can figure it out and instruct your parents on how to take a picture with theirs.

well ..........

I was just going to say that response cards are a relatively recent development (you're supposed to write a response in the third person, just if you ever time travel back to some WASP wedding in the 1950s, you're welcome), so I don't know why this is so shocking to you.

It reminds me of people who complain about The Youth using "I'm like" to mean "I said" when their generation used "I go" to mean "I said." Which innovations are OK, and why?

In any case, I’m sure older family members could get the support they need to rsvp. Nbd

This. Having the actual website written out (in addition to an QR code) is preferable.

It is a thing.
It is a shame - because I love reading all of the handwritten note cards from friends and family RSVPing to our wedding.
We pull them out (with our wedding album) and look at them. It is fun for our kids as well.

It clearly is a dated way - and was not as efficient. But there is a value to it as well.

It’s ok to try new things. You’ll survive.

You know, I think it’s pretty smart. You save paper, you save postage, and it’s very easy to reply.

I don't think it's tacky but I do think it would be confusing for older folks, and seems kind of tone deaf in that regard.

"I much prefer an RSVP card."

Why?

We just got a wedding invitation for a wedding in the midwest and it had no RSVP card - a QR code only. Is this a new thing? I thought it was rather tacky. I much prefer an RSVP card. My parents had no idea what to do!
