Have you used Uber recently? This might've been the case a decade ago when it was burning VC money by subsidizing fares, but lately it's about $20 each way to get from one end of town to the other. There's no way that's cheaper than taking metro, especially on a weekend.

Thanks. It looks like you can also purchase a card at a station. What I’m not clear about is if the card is part of the initial fare or if there is a fee for the actual card.

Most stations don't have cards now (I thought?), but buying them on your phone in the SmarTrip app is very easy.

OP - we are trying to get from Nats stadium to downtown without sitting in a ton of traffic after the game.

I’ve never used my phone. We all have cards. DD swipes her own as she goes through then gives it to me to hold on to.
