That's a late start to the school year. You shoukd be able to go anywhere and find lodging and minimal crowds - the beach, Universal Studios, national parks.

Chicago and/or drive up to Makinow island in MI. Easy flight. You will love it. Quebec City is another easy trip via Montreal. So do a 4 he less flight to spend more time R&R but get out of the area too

These are great options if you can spend 1-2k/night for the whole family.

I'd get an airbnb in Maine and spend all day outdoors.

I would drive or fly to Hilton Head that week. Southern schools are back in and most students are on their back or back in college. Great time to go.

Great Smoky Mts, Gettysburg, Nashville

A couple days hiking Hocking Hills, kayaking and hiking (and golfing the Arnold Palmer course, if that’s your thing) at Stonewall Jackson state park in West Virginia.

We're able to take off the week of the 21st, and want to do something extremely last minute with our teens, ages 16 and 14. We'd consider flying somewhere, want to do something for 5 or so days with some hiking, outdoorsy stuff. Driving distance within 4 hours is a bonus. DCUM send wisdom!
