BM wins out in quality. SW gives discounts to contractors. Find out what the difference is in cost and decide if it is worth it to you.

SW gives contractors a bigger discount. For a DIYer, SW has coupons and is a little cheaper.

There's a lot to like for both of them, but if I'm looking for a blue, I find BM has the better options. When I was just starting out and didn't know about color, the SW fan deck was much easier to work with because of how it's organized.

But the quality is the same, the difference is one is more expensive. More expensive does not always mean better quality.

I have SW in my house and love it.

I have only used BM myself and while I’m disappointed they got rid of the Natura line, I have been happy with Eco Spec but can’t speak to the durability of it yet. I’ve really liked the Regal Select for outdoors. That and the Natura and Aura all hold up really well. They have zero smell once dry and very little smell when painting. The SW our discount painters used to stage our house for sale off gassed for weeks and smelled terrible when initially painted. I always use zero VOC so maybe I’m sensitive.

Also a BM user typically, new painter preferred SW, we went with it, it came out well.

They can color match.

The reason that painters prefer one or the other has nothing to do with the paint. The paint stores extend credit to painters. When you're a painter and you go through $10K or more of paint a month being able to pay for the paint after your customers pay you is a big deal. Most painters have a store where they have an account and prefer to buy paint there.

You don’t have to find matching colors, they just use the BM swatch and the computer to match it.

My painter did that this year too OP, even though every other job I have had them use BM. They really stressed color matching the BM in SW because BM has become more expensive comparatively (IDK if that is true but they said so).

I went with it and it came out great and I am very happy, even though I was reluctant.

Don't skimp on paint OP. It's not worth it.

There are only a few hard working areas in my house that requires a HIGHLY durable paint. For me, stairwell and kitchen. In my other areas, I use Behr paint. I tire of the paint color before it wears out.

My spouse needs low VOC paints. We have painted our house in SW Harmony paints and they've worked very well for us. We purchased the house in 2006 and did most of the painting between 2006-2009 and the paint has held up well for us, so SW is definitely durable.

Have used both BM regal select and SW cashmere. Both seem fine, though admittedly we only painted with them this year so can't really comment on how they hold up.

I picked out colors from BM to paint my house, but my painter said we’d save considerable $$ if we went with SW Cashmere instead of BM Royal select. We used BM on our last house and liked it, but don’t have experience with the other. Also, the lazy side of me doesn’t want to have to find colors that match up to the colors I already picked but I guess I could be convinced

Anyone have opinions about how the two paints measure up?
