I was there last night and it was really bad. I'm actually surprised there weren't stampedes or something more tragic due to misbehavor as it was hot and people were packed. I understand there were a lot of people sheltering in place but FEDEX (unsurprisingly) mismanaged. They closed off access to various parts of the stadium, were inconsistent in explaining whether people should return to their cars or not, escalators were turned off (not broken), and they generally failed to give directions.

Insult to injury was the fact that they charged $85 for advance parking only for nobody to be outside checking parking so it was essentially free and a waste of money.

Merriweather had a major issue a few years ago during a storm. Outdoor concerts in DC are a no go.

There’s room under cover for people at FedEx and other football stadiums. Merriweather is a totally different thing.

The Merriweather situation included flooding and spectators in water with electrical equipment.

Both of these examples show that these venues do not have the ability to handle inclement weather and communications. People were stuck tonight inside for quite some time with no information as to what was going on.

Or they show the effects of climate change and the fact that stadiums built 20+ years ago were not built for the amount of rain we get now.

You can’t be a good advocate for climate if you say things this dumb.

Eh so I’ll just be a bad advocate for climate. At least I’m trying. That said, in my day we all just sat in the stadium and got hit by random bolts of lightning because there wasn’t as much rain.

This is a good thing. We just drove from Jersey and the rain on 95 between Baltimore and DC was some of the heaviest I’ve ever driven through.

Maybe watch the videos posted on instagram. People were being crushed inside and passing out because it was so hot. The concourse around the arena isn’t large enough to hold everyone.

Don't go for a sports event either. I was at FedEx for the first time last weekend for a Premier League soccer game. Everything about the experience was awful. I'd hate to be trapped there during thunderstorms - what a nightmare.

Sounds like a really terrible situation at FedEx Field tonight - reports of many people passing out while sheltering in place and then a confrontation with authorities at one of the gates. Makes me think I will never go to that facility again, especially for a concert.
