OP, I recommend doing trial practices at both and using that to inform your decision. We considered JFD and weren't willing to sign up (and shell out) before meeting them IRL. It fell through anyway, but you do need more information than you can get online, I think.

Joe is a nice guy and a good coach if you can get him. A PP is correct though, he does use a lot of student coaches.

We have done both and I prefer Tiburones but both are good. JFD uses a lot of student coaches. They have extra team building and leadership activities for older kids.
I like the coaching staff better at Tibu. Just personal preference.
Look at practice times and see if that sways you.

I would go with Tibu

I know Hydrosonic Tiburones to be small groups which allow for a lot of personal attention. Swimmers are placed in groups based on their age, ability and goals. There’s a lot of focus on stroke mechanics and they attend about one meet a month.

Whichever one has to most convenient times and locations is the one you should choose.
My 11yo is doing the opposite, giving up club swim and just wants to do stroke and turn.

My almost 11yo son loves summer swim. He’s done stroke and turn the last couple years to keep up skills, but misses meets. He’s not fast enough to make a traditional club team. I was looking at JD dolphins or hydrosonic tibournes. Thoughts/experience on either one? TIA.
