I'm a hardback devotee for the same reason. You have to actively hold a paperback book open, a hardback can sort of lay open in your lap.

Hardback are too heavy. But there are a number of writers I like so much that I want their new book when it comes out, and that means hardback.

Because I only buy my favorites, knowing I’ll want to read them again and again, I prefer hardbacks.

Paperbacks for weight/size reasons. I only buy hardback if it’s a new book and the paperback version isn’t yet available.

Paperbacks, they're so friendly and light. I hate hardbacks, they're too heavy and take up too much space.
When I travel, Kindle. Otherwise I like to feel the paper.

Whichever one arrives fastest. I don't honestly care.

Same. Smaller to carry around, easier to hold at night in bed.

Libby app.
otherwise paper but seriously, libby app has drastically improved my reading life. I read hundreds of books now vs only like 100 or so when I had to carry around the physical copies.

Paperback. Easier to carry with me and I like to think less of an environmental impact than hardback. Although the environmental concern is probably moot if you're buying used.

I buy used books on Amazon, and many times the price difference between hardback and paperback is only a few dollars. I always pick the paperback, but I am starting to think about getting the hardbacks. Do you find them easier to read? Is the printing bigger? Which would you pick?
