No, unless it's a single, or both residents agree, you can't put a ring type camera on someone else's door, even if it's yours too. People deserve to have privacy around when they come and go at their own home, and who they invite over.

I mean, it's probably illegal without the consent of the roommate and anyone else who might be there (such as roommate's sex partner).

The camera they list is just a general use camera. I have one as my pet cam. I’m not sure what the point of one would be in a dorm.

It would absofreakinglutely not be OK with me for this to be in my kid's room. Probably a violation of school policy, too.

There are a number of camera products designed to provide video security within a dorm room. Is this really a thing? Seems like a huge invasion of privacy and I would not be okay if my son’s roommate installed one.
