I know a family that wanted a girl ...,7 boys in a row and finally a girl. I imagine being boy 7.

2 boys is handful, 3 chaos, 4 anarchy. Most people stop at 2 boys despite wanting a girl. The chance of getting another boy is too great.

Wanting a boy is another story.

I was very aware as a young child that my parents really, really wanted their third child to be a boy. They talked about it a lot, and, yes, in front of the two girls they already had. I am sure they aren’t the only parents in history to have done this.

Just guessing that if conceptions are statistically independent events, there's no effect on the usual ratio.

That's a trick question. It's still 1:1 ratio because each birth is 50/50 random.

My cousin’s daughter married a man from a culture where sons are very important. She has six children now. The youngest is the only boy.

My MIL had 4 girls until my DH was born (at age 43) and then sadly miscarried another girl very late.

More often it is the reverse; keep having kids until the boy is born. If you can afford it, why not?

I don’t understand people who keep having kids until they have a girl. I know two separate who have done this. And then the mothers whine about how hard it is “with so many kids.” What about how the boys feel?
