Montgomery County Fair is fun for those ages if they are in town while it is running.

Depends on the weather, if it’s really hot my tween would be happy at the pool. Maybe do melting pot for dinner one night or Julio’s for the chocolate piñata for a fun dinner.

Kids that age like to do things, not just walk around and see sites, so I’d try to book tours and activities.

This site is usually helpful: https://www.kidfriendlydc.com/

I’m sorry, the printing and engraving museum is closed until further notice. I should have checked before posting.

Around those ages my kids liked seeing money being printed. You can get same day tour free tickets. https://lamborn.house.gov/bureau-engraving-and-printing-tours-and-information#:~:text=Located%20in%20the%20heart%20of,gallery%20overlooking%20the%20production%20floor!

They liked Air and Space and the zoo when they were younger but they had gone a lot. They liked the museum of natural history better at 9-12.

Escape Room, bowling, or movies and hanging out in Georgetown or one of the museums or the zoo, as mentioned above. Enjoy!

How about the Capital Wheel at National Harbor? They also have paddle boats.

We like to park and walk around National Harbor, then take the water taxi across to Alexandria for lunch or dinner.

Play games / card games with them.

Being away from home, observing another household, getting to know other adults ~ don't discount the value, in just, everyday things.

Have they done the DC sites before? Go with them, take a tour. Old Town Trolley Tour, something like that. They would probably like the Natural History Museum, Air & Space

My tween niece is visiting soon. She’s 12 soon to be 13, and coming with my nephew, who’s 9. They haven’t visited for a few years and will only be here a couple days. We’re in MoCo. What fun kid things would you take them to do while they’re here in DC or elsewhere?
