I would start there, then with a list of names I would call and confirm they do accept your insurance and then interview them to see if they line up with what you need.

Bump

DD age 10 has put on a lot of weight due to psychiatric meds. We are trying to shift her to new meds but also need to have her see a dietician/nutritionist (as urged by psychiatrist). Her food habits are bad and her bmi is verging on obese. She is obsessive about sweets and abilify makes it so that she never stops being hungry. She feels bad about herself and her body but can’t help herself when it comes to sweets/carbs. Craves them all the time. We try to minimize without being overly restrictive. Her dad and I are both currently overweight but never were as kids so I don’t know how to talk to her in age appropriate ways about moderation. She gets a reasonable amount of exercise. She never was overweight until these meds but was also very volatile and depressed before them. Now she cries because she’s the fat kid. Those are her words. I don’t want her to obsess about calories but I do want to get a handle on this.

Is there anyone you could recommend who might take insurance? Someone who will help her get some balance? She doesn’t need to be skinny but this trend is really troubling and we need help. We are in Maryland.
