This is honestly so true, and I wish more people cared. There are huge swaths of this country that no longer have any real kind of local journalism, and no one keeping local government honest as a result. It’s not good for democracy.

We used to get daily newspaper but stopped as sometimes we didn’t have time to read during week days. Digital access is cheap but I really don’t want more screen time. As kids get older, I really hope to read on weekends for current events and long form articles.
