I’ve been in DC 17 years and have done 1 federal trial and 2 DC Superior court summons.

Jan 6th cases will be in federal court with a federal summons.

Most DC residents get called for DC Superior court, which is a different venue, though on the same block.

My husband and I were both called for federal jury duty in the past few years. It was the first time for both of us, having been accustomed to being called for DC courts every two years. Neither of us end up serving, but we figured out that one of us got a case about Jan 6 rioters and one of us got a case about one of Trump's associates.

DC is like clockwork, but I don't know anyone who's been called for Federal jury service.

I would think that was quite odd if you have a driver's license and you are registered to vote. We are called every two years like clockwork. I've served on three juries and my husband has served on one.

I, my wife, and my son were all called within the last few months. But so far none of us actually ended up having to serve.

I get summoned every two years from each court like clockwork, so I seem to hear from at least one court per year. Never got picked, but came close a few times.

I, too, was called for a January 6th jury (well, two in fact) when I was called this year. Dismissed.

I also was almost on a Jan 6th case. On the 2nd day of picking the jury I was dismissed, but honestly I was hoping I was picked. It was one of the really high-profile cases from that day.

So what? I'm not the OP poster, but my mom has said some pretty bizarre things too.

Most people I know in DC are called every 2-3 years. Maybe a little longer if you actually served. Seems like you got lucky and fell out of the rotation. Hope this doesn't jinx you!

My mom recently commented that she was surprised that neither I nor DH had been called to jury duty given all the Jan 6 cases. Which made us realize that neither of us have been called since late 2000s, shortly after we moved here. What could be going on with that? I thought I heard people in DC got called every couple years.
