Who said it wasn't? I remember many challenging worksheets fondly. It helps master concepts that are glossed over in these other programs.

RSM is enrichment. Mathnasium is remedial. If your kids is far ahead compared to peers consider RSM. If they are at or below, consider Mathnasium.
For lower elementary, Mathnasium is a fine choice to teach the basics, but for upper I'd personally go with AoPS or RSM.

I'm confused. Are you wanting a group setting or individual tutoring?
For middle school math and higher, $50/hour is quite low if you are wanting one-to-one tutoring. $50/hour was the going rate about 10+ years ago, but one-to-one tutoring now requires a higher rate.

OP, ask your DC why they don't want to do RSM any more. Maybe the center is assigning too much work? Even smart kids get burn out. A regular tutoring center will also assign a lot, but if it's not challenging at all, your DC will like it even less than RSM. The answer might be less tutoring, not more.
