That flexibility won't help hep of her junior year GPA drops due to having too many courses.

This will not make or break her at all. One of my kids did that with with science and was accepted at several out of state flagships that don’t have very competitive admissions.

One bit of advice: try to get new psychoeducational testing junior year so your kid enters college with testing that’s within 3 years. Colleges will want the recent testing for accommodations.

If she's aiming for non-competitive schools and is generally a good student, I think it would be ok. I would double check requirements or if four years of science is "highly recommended" by the individual colleges on her list.

DD has an IEP and learning disabilities, but she does want to go to college. She is trying AP classes for the first time, as a junior - AP Lang and AP World, and I anticipate this will be very challenging for her, but she’s insisting. She’s wondering if she can skip science her junior year (she has one more required class, and was going to take physics/astronomy), and take it her senior year instead. She will definitely not be pursuing a STEM major.

Will she still be able to get into college? She’s likely to apply to schools in the 80% acceptance rate range. Wondering what people think. Her counselor thought it would be okay, as long as she isn’t majoring in science in college, but I’m uncertain.
