2019 we flew to Germany for $550 each, rented a car for 2 weeks for $400 and spent 2 weeks in airbnbs in Bavaria, Austria, and Italy for roughly $150 a night. Total $4700 plus gas and food.

2023: flights to Europe for $1300 per person, rental car for $350, airbnbs average $180 per night. Total for 2 weeks over $8000 plus food and gas (food prices in Europe have gone up a lot).

but not as much as the US (especially when you factor in the strength of the dollar versus the Euro). We currently live in Germany and had total sticker shock in restaurants/grocery stores when we went back to the US this summer.

Spent about 2000 for about a week at Niagara Falls (canadian side) earlier this summer, family of 4, and we drove there. We went to Toronto during our time there as well. The Canadian exchange rate works out well in our favor. We got a great rate on the hotel.

My sister took her family of 4 on a 10 day Alaskan cruise. It left from CA and she had to fly in from Scottsdale AZ. Total cost with flights was around $6500.

Such a big range. We spent something like $16k for 5 people for a Christmas week ski trip. Similar ski trip for 3 people was around $6k in March.

We stopped with the beach trips. Ridiculously expensive to rent something nice next to the beach whether it’s outer banks or Bethany or Rehoboth.

We went to Peloponnese, Greece this summer for 17 days and the trip was just as much as our last beach trip.

We rent a condo at the beach in Sandbridge for around $3k. Short drive and minimal other costs when we’re there.

We spent a week in the Adirondacks for around that too. Stayed in a 2 bedroom, apartment style hotel. Driving distance, so that keeps it cheap.

We’re going to southern CA in December and it’s looking like it will be about $7k for the week. Flights for 3 people were $2k because I bought early but wanted direct flights at popular times of day (if I’d been willing to do layovers or red-eyes it would have saved $600).

None of those costs include food.

Way too many variables. Flying vs driving, where you go, what you do there. You can drive to Rehoboth and rent a condo and only do beach with minimal extra activities and meals out for a significantly different price than flying to Europe for a week as we did for spring break or flying out west to hit multiple national parks with extra excursions and activities racked on. Could be anywhere from $3500 to $10k+

Fly to Martha’s Vineyard, family of 4. Right at $5k after food, rental house and car, flights.

Depends on where you want to go.

This year, we drove to Myrtle Beach, rented a 2bdrm condo on the beach with a pool and amenities for a week for $2,500. Food, gas and activities I’d guess were another $1,000. We ate out once or twice a day all casual restaurants. We mainly hung out on the beach, pool, or did free or cheap activities in the resort community where we were staying . So around $3,500 total for the week.

If you want to fly somewhere, add another $3,000 for flights and a rental car. We did a Southern CA road trip for around that much one year and used hotel points to offset the more expensive cost of sightseeing there, like going to theme parks.

We went to Grand Cayman one year but everything is expensive there so that was more like $8-9,000.

Right now I am looking to rent a house in OBX for next summer, with 3 other families. It's 12K for the house - divided by 4, so $3k each. Driving distance - & that's close to about as cheap as I can personally do it.

I have in the past been able to do $2k for the rental though - OBX (cheaper house split 3 ways) and HHI (2 bedroom condo rental on VRBO). We are a family of 5.

Trying estimate low or reasonable end of what it takes to travel somewhere for a week. I know this is a very broad question.
