Don’t get why Pepco doesn’t call in support from other utilities like they used to. Power out everywhere with trees down.

They are in neighborhoods where more people and streets more critical for overall transportation have been impacted. Were you thinking that your neighborhood would get priority over others for some reason?

You all got it the worst, but everything should be back to servicable by later today.

We are near Potomac river in palisades/Wesley heights/Kent area and the whole place is an absolute mess! So many roads blocked by entire trees down. Cara crushed, houses hit by trees, no power. There should be full force out there cleaning and I am just not seeing it. Where are the crews!?

They fix the big stuff first and work back to the smaller roads. The line repair men have to go first followed by the tree guys. Tree guys are all contracts. So not city employees.

Power is restored:
Isolate hazards and make safe
Repair high-voltage lines/restore essential functions
Restore hospitals and other critical medical facilities, police and fire departments, and 911 facilities
Repair main feeder/distribution lines
Restore areas with largest number of customers
Restore individual homes

That is what happens when they don't have power. If you're driving, treat it as an all-way stop. If you're walking, cross when you think it's safe, just like you ordinarily would.
