We use hot water with baking soda dissolved in it.

I deep cleaned house myself (and lived to regret it as it was a big job!) prior to listing it for sale. I used Murphy's Oil Soap on the top of the kitchen cabinets, which were sticky and nasty. It removed all the stickiness, and did not damage the finish on the cabinets. I think a professional cleaning company told me to use Murphy's, so that's what I did. I just kept wiping away until the stickiness disappeared. It took several rounds of wiping.

Lately I've been using baby wipes to wipe around windows, another area that gets sticky with time. They work great.

So for the dish soap, do you have to wash that off? Seems like it would be a big sudsy mess?

I like the mr clean continuous spray for these. You need something to cut the grease, so just make sure whatever you use specifies that.

If the cabinets are actually painted wood (as opposed to foil, etc), then whatever you try, start with a test patch.

Oh god. So we are not the only one. I have always been so embarrassed thinking I am the only one.

Me again, I’ve done it before. Did it again a few days ago. I like it because unmixed, they’re no suds. Just dab some on a paper towel, it goes a long way.

Baby wipes work really well on mine. Or even wet microfiber cloth.
