I'm in a similar position (over 50, obese BMI, easily worn out and not at all strong) -- maybe one of us should make a spin off post about this question? Asking for recommendations for getting in shape in our condition? Where to start?

Same. I've been doing it for 7 years. Started with Bar Method, moved to Barre3 which is my favorite of the two. I do it 3 times a week.

Where do you take these classes? I also don't like working out but maybe will try this.

I’m not OP but I go to Pure Barre.

Which one do you go to? How much is it a month?

I go to the one near my house. There’s tons of them. Where I go doesn’t matter for you. I pay $139 to attend 8 classes a month since I also belong to a regular gym and Orangetheory so Barre isn’t my main / only workout. There are a variety of plans and prices.

The best way to get in shape is to pick something you enjoy enough to do.

Every hour I spend at barre is an hour not sitting over my computer. And I get a few thousand steps for walking there and back.

I also love barre. My favorite studio is Barre 3– I just like the vibe and the way the classes are structured.

I think you’d have to go daily and/or combine it with other stuff to lose a substantial amount of weight there. But I think it’s great for building strength and endurance and maintaining fitness.

I really miss barre classes. There was a studio nearby but it closed during the pandemic. I have been doing them online but it is not the same. Glad you are enjoying the workout and community!
