To be fair, it can depend on the teacher.

When my DS did health last summer, his teacher was a terrible communicator, tough grader, kept changing her mind in what the assignments were, and he was legitimately unsure if he'd get an A (he did). He was a rising 9th grader who had straight As all through middle school at a magnet, and was going into a magnet for HS. He was freaked out.

Meanwhile, his friend was assigned to a different teacher for virtual Health, and that teacher gave 100% for anything turned in by the end of the session, grading only for completion in anything other than exams, and made exams open book and untimed. Everyone in that class got an easy A.

I emailed the teacher and MCPS about dropping the 1st semester. Nobody ever responded. My child dropped because they had an IEP and couldn’t manage to follow the class without in-person. The school counselor told me there will be no grade. I hope that’s correct even though I received no confirmation from Central Summer School.

She's not giving it the respect it needs, drop it.
Her plan is to just get the famous MCPS A like a divorced dad who blames himself and tries to make up for it by being permissive.

The form doesn’t say but I would give her a deadline like tonight, saying “do x amount of assignments by midnight or I am submitting the form.” Has she gone to all the required sessions?

Thanks. Do you know if there is a deadline? The problem is, she is saying she wants to stay in for now and see how she does and can always drop it later if she does poorly.

I'm concerned there might be a deadline for withdrawal and that slacking and dropping at the last minute may not work out.

She should be fine. Go the MCPS web site for summer school and complete the form noting withdrawal.
