Constructive discharge. It’s not illegal unless it violates some other employment protection (like anti-discrimination laws). But proving it happened can sometimes get you unemployment benefits even if you’d quit.

I have a suspicion that a “cleaner” of sorts has been hired to make people quit. Not my department, but one I deal with often. They hired a new senior manager and all of a sudden the department has gone to hell. He keeps implementing all of these bizarre and sweeping changes that seemingly make no sense. Demanding people on days off for sudden meetings and then chastising them if they are unavailable. Making the working environment hell, from what I can tell. People are quitting. Now rumor has it they might be outsourcing some of the work in this department and now even more people are leaving. So is there a name for this?
