They were gifts and now you want to make money from gifts? Aren't you just so special!

I agree with this. Unless you’re really pressed for money and you have time to spare, it’s not worth the hassle to sell kids clothes. Even new name brand stuff. What’s worked for me is finding someone appreciative to hand my stuff down to.

I've recently had good luck with GoodBuy Gear in Alexandria. I sold my Doona and a few other things within a few days.

I buy a lot of my kids clothes from Kidizen but I don’t know how much of a cut they take. I’m also a member of a BST group on Facebook and items priced well and in good condition sell briskly.

Consignment is going to take excellent condition only, no stains at all.

For Facebook groups, Mercari, etc you can label imperfect items as “play” condition and still get a little money for them, especially bundles. Lots of people don’t mind “water spots” and minor stains if the clothes are going to get wrecked at daycare anyway.

I had really good luck with Mercari for awhile but it has slowed down. Facebook Groups for specific brands or types of clothes have worked well— I’m in groups for Primary and Lovevery, as well as a group for twin parents where you sell matching or coordinated pairs of items.

There are the JBF consignment sales, which involve a lot of effort since you price and tag all of your own items, but the return is decent.

The easiest for me has been Kid to Kid in Centreville. It’s also what has gotten the least return, but I get store credit and you get a bit more doing it that way. Call and double check what they’re taking when do you don’t waste a trip.

Be aware 529 Consign is very picky on brands and age of clothes. bellies & babies is a bit looser.

Kid2Kid in Rockville. No idea if you will make real money (probably not), but they seem to have the model you want.

You’ll only get pennies from ThredUp for the clothes. I would sell the stuff that’s easy to ship on Poshmark and do lots unless it’s a really popular brand. For strollers and stuff that’s larger, either suck it up and do FB or Nextdoor or just donate for the tax deduction

I would try the online thrift stores, like thredup. If it's high end, you'll likely get some money from it, especially if you have a lot of quantity. Plus, it's very easy.

FWIW, I haven't done this yet, pregnant with #3, but it's my plan as soon as baby starts growing out of the absurd amount of clothing we have.

For added context, we got most of this stuff as gifts. We dont make a lot of money, thus why I'd like to try to sell it.

hello all, where can I get money for selling a bunch of high quality baby/toddler clothes, toys and appliances? I do not want to use FB market - im not good at the follow through. I'd love to be able to drop off these items at a consignment for kids or something similar (im aware not all items would be accepted). Please me know if you know of somehwere to do this in DC/VA/MD. I'm moving out of the area and have a closet FILLED to the brim with stuff I need to get rid of, and could use the extra cash.
