Anais and Annalise will get teased. She'll get used to it and come up with some great responses, but she will get teased.

We're definitely not doing Anne.

LOL as a mom of an Annie, if you have this attitude toward Anne it's very strange to me that you like Annie. Anne is the basis of 95% of the names that can be nicknamed to Annie. Annabelle, Annaliese, Maryanne, Julianne, Annabeth, Anastasia, Antonia.

I know an Annika (not sure spelling)

Or you could do a different tack and choose a longer name that usually uses a different nickname than Annie:

Melanie
Stephanie
Delaney/Delanie
Brittany
Bethany
Tiffany

I mean, there are a lot of options above that work well. Just remember that you have other options than just the ones you would think of with "ann," and nicknames don't have to follow super strict rules.

I like Annalise, Joanne (I’d use that spelling to not have the craft store), Marianne (particularly if you have any French heritage), Annabel, Anastasia

And I totally agree not to use Annie as a full name she will always be asked what it’s short for.

I like PP’s Annalise

Also: Annabeth, Annette, Annika, Anya, Anais

You could do Ann, Anne, or Anna as a first or middle name, or even hyphenate

Anne-Marie

You could do one of the names that includes Ann:
Leeann, Leanna
JoAnn, Joanna
D’Ann
Marianne, Mariana, Marian
Susannah

Andrea
Ariana
Anemone
Angela
Antonia

Here’s a list from Nameberry that had tons of names for the nickname Annie

I know some people would say "just name her Annie!" but we don't want that. We want a longer name. DH suggested Annabelle or Julianna. Neither is quite grabbing me though I don't hate them. Any ideas?
