Cash in a handwritten card has always been appreciated. I once got a bunch of pop-up cards for teacher appreciation week and was by how many teachers specifically mentioned how much they enjoyed them to me.

Cash/gift card with a nice note and maybe a baked good (muffin/cookie). They dont need candles, plants, or anything else when they are worried about making rent or repairing a car despite working full time.

Daycare and preschool teachers are woefully underpaid. The best gift is a gift card. Some people give give cards like Amazon or Target because they have no service fee. But I'm willing to pay the $4-$5 service fee to give them a Visa gift card because it gives them much more flexibility where they can spend it.

You should give them a gift card in the amount that your family can afford. I give $50, but even a $10 gift card is appreciated, if that is what you can afford to give.
